At the heart of Will Carleton Academy are the twin pillars of knowledge and character development. Whether delineated by what we know and are able to do or the content of our character, each must be an integral feature of the foundation-building process that is education.
For the sake of academic excellence, greater fairness and higher literacy for all, the elementary and middle school years need an immutable, specific core curriculum that will enable children to establish a strong foundation of knowledge upon which they build from grade to grade. We believe there is a body of knowledge that should form the core of any elementary/middle/high school curriculum basic principles of constitutional government, important evens in history, essential elements of mathematics and of oral and written expression, stories passed on in oral and written forms, and acknowledge masterpieces within the realms of art and music.
